Open Badge

Open Badges @ CSAL

Open Badges are an innovative way to enable skills and competencies to be recognised globally.

Initially developed by the Mozilla Foundation, this open standard has become a fundamental part of the digital credential ecosystem. Open Badges are not just images; they are records that include embedded metadata about the badge holder’s achievements.

Each badge details the recipient's name, date of acquisition, the specific competency it represents, the assessment method, the evaluator, and the validity of the competency if applicable. They are designed to be easily shared and verified across systems that support the Open Badge Infrastructure (OBI).

The Università Politecnica delle Marche partners with Bestr to issue verifiable Open Badges, ensuring that the competencies represented are recognised and respected worldwide.

Bestr is Italy's leading digital credentialing platform, it was developed by Cineca, the leading Italian interuniversity Consortium which was founded in 1969. The platform is designed to bridge the gap between the skills developed in higher education and those demanded by employers. By providing digital credentials, Bestr helps to visualize and verify the competencies of individuals in a straightforward and reliable manner. These credentials serve as digital recommendation letters that can be integrated directly into a resume.
